Overview
Astrobotics competed in a NASA-hosted design competition that supported research and development aligned with the goals of the Artemis missions: a semi-autonomous robot built to excavate and place material for berm construction in a simulated lunar environment.
My Role
I served as Manufacturing Lead. My main contribution was engineering the chassis to fit under the team's mass budget, which cut assembly time by two months. I was later promoted into the role and spent part of it training the rest of the team on design-for-manufacturability practices, SolidWorks, and FEA.
A deeper write-up of specific design decisions is still on the list — this project ran for about four years and there's more worth documenting than fits here yet.
