about
A bit about me.
I'm a mechanical engineering student at Virginia Tech, currently finishing my last two semesters up!
Experience
In Space Additive Manufacturing Experiment
Mechanical Lead
Jan 2026 – May 2027
- Led a team of ~20 undergraduate engineers in the research, testing, and design of mechanical components for a space-bound additive manufacturing system capable of 3D printing in microgravity and a vacuum.
- Managed mechanical subsystem integration, balanced mass and volume budgets, and coordinated design reviews to meet launch and payload constraints.
- Designed the payload interface and structural housing for the enclosure subsystem, validating the assembly against launch loads to achieve an acceptable factor of safety.
Caterpillar
Engineering Intern
May 2026 – Aug 2026
- Developed a MATLAB kinematics and statics model of a six-ton mini excavator to estimate bucket payload from boom-cylinder pressures and linkage angle measurements.
- Determined the pressure-sensor configuration needed to measure boom-cylinder loads accurately, validating resolution and placement through physical testing on the machine.
- Optimized flashing of pre-production software onto validation machines through Power BI scripting and remote over-the-air updates, cutting a five-machine batch from 125 to 40 minutes.
Astrobotics — Virginia Tech
Manufacturing Lead
Jan 2022 – Jan 2026
- Designed and built a semi-autonomous lunar berm-building robot, contributing to systems engineering, mechanical design, and project coordination across a multidisciplinary team.
- Engineered chassis under mass budget through analysis cycles, geometry optimization and LEAN principals.
- Reduced manufacturing and assembly time by 2 months through employing DFM principles.
- Trained and consulted team members in DFM as well as physical manufacturing techniques. Additionally led training on SolidWorks and FEA.
Altec Industries
Product Engineering Co-op
May 2025 – Dec 2025
- Designed hydraulic systems and assembly models for new DX truck line, optimizing components for manufacturability and drafting production prints.
- Integrated pilot-controlled option for new derrick trucks, specifying control valves, creating system-wide hydraulics diagrams, and developing installation assemblies.
- Re-evaluated boom-stow design in response to crack propagation, utilizing ANSYS to assess the existing design and re-engineer the weldment to achieve an acceptable factor of safety and prevent recurrence of cracking.
Product Engineering Co-op
May 2024 – Dec 2024
- Conducted study on bolt pre-load vs. torque for pedestal installation, identifying issues in bolt suppliers’ ductility.
- Designed and manufactured a hydraulic pump pack focused on serviceability and modularity, featuring three variable displacement pumps in series with load-sensing for expanded crane testing applications.
- Developed and manufactured a work platform for a prototype derrick, featuring a modular system for placing counterweight (upwards of 10 tons) without welding.
